The Afrimat brands - Lancaster, Prima, Prima Readymix and Malans - are established leaders in the regions in which they operate.

Lancaster

Lancaster Quarries was established in 1965 with the opening of a quarry in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal. The business expanded with the opening of a number of quarries in Northern KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Free State where the company is now the dominant supplier of aggregates.

Lancaster Precast was formed principally as an outlet for crusher dust produced by Lancaster Quarries, regarded initially as a waste product of the quarries, but now accounts for the lion’s share of sales in the region.

Prima

Prima was established in 1963 as a quarry and stone crushing business in Worcester. The quarrying business was expanded through the acquisition of a number of quarries in the Western and Eastern Cape and in Namibia, enabling Prima to become one of the largest independent aggregates suppliers in these regions. The group further diversified by acquiring and establishing new subsidiary companies, all servicing the construction materials supply industry.

Malans Quarries

Malans Quarries comprises quarry operations, rubble crushing operations and a number of sand mines in the Western Cape peninsula, Jeffrey’s Bay area and in Port Elizabeth, as well as mobile crushing operations.
