Afrimat Iron Ore (Demaneng Mine) based in Kathu has a vacancy for a:
Electrical Foreman
Minimum Qualification / Experience
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
- Valid Electrical Trade Test
- Valid MV/HT Competency certificate (added advantage)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- A minimum of five years’ management experience within a mining environment.
- Must have previous authorizations to perform High/Medium Voltage switching.
- Advanced fault-finding, ability to read complex blueprints/schematics, and knowledge of PLC systems
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently within set targets.
- People management and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing conditions, and manage a team effectively
Duties and responsibilities (not limited to):
- Team Supervision: Lead and coordinate electrical artisans and contractors, ensuring work is completed to standard and on deadline.
- Maintenance Management: Plan and execute preventative maintenance, troubleshoot equipment failures, and manage emergency breakdown repairs.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety standards (such as the Mine Health and Safety Act), conduct risk assessments, and lead safety meetings or "toolbox talks".
- Resource Oversight: Manage budgets, coordinate the procurement of spare parts, and ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained.
- Technical Oversight: Supervise medium and high voltage (MV/HV) reticulation, substation maintenance, and specialized mining equipment like crushers.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain meticulous records of tasks, update maintenance systems, and report progress to senior engineer.
