Health & Safety Intern
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
- Grade 12 / Matric
- National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management.
- Basic knowledge of risk assessments, incident reporting, toolbox talks, PPE, safety audits and inspections.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
- Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Willingness to learn.
- Valid driver’s license.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Participate in the Afrimat Internship Development Programme.
- Maintain Health and Safety filing system in accordance with company policies and procedure.
- Conduct Health & Safety inspections and compile inspection reports.
- Compile, maintain and update Health and Safety files for various sites/projects.
- Attend Health & Safety meetings and assist with taking minutes of the meetings.
- Assist with internal and external Health & Safety audits.
- Assist with incident and accident investigations.
- Participate in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) process.
- Assist with drafting, review, implementing of Method Statements, MCOPs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Perform Health and Safety duties under guidance and supervision of the Health and Safety Officer.
- To assist by conducting Safety training induction for the permanent employees and site contractors.
- Perform any other Health and Safety related duties as assigned.
