Mechanical Engineering Internship
Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Requirements
- Grade 12 certificate
- Minimum qualification National Diploma/Bachelor’s degree
- Must pass Afrimat Medical fitness certification
- Valid SA ID
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be effective in using MS OFFICE (Excel, Word and OUTLOOK) as a minimum
Duties and responsibilities (not limited to):
- The candidate will be required to work with and assist artisans and operational staff to learn and understand how equipment is used and maintained for reliability.
- Adaptable to change
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
- Willing to travel and work in outdoor mining environments
- Must have sufficient theoretical and technical knowledge of mechanical equipment.
- Must be analytical and a problem solver
- Must be a fast learner
- Must demonstrate basic understanding of Mechanical Systems and their application
- Inspect equipment and identify reliability issues with team members and schedule repair interactions
- Replace parts on operational equipment
- Repair parts / components on equipment
- Be part of the on site oil health team
- Perform Root Cause Analysis to improve reliability and prevent reoccurrence of failures
- Be able to take lead and supervise a team of production or maintenance personnel where required by site management
- This is a remote site-based position. This is not an office-based position
