Procurement and Logistics Graduate Internship
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements / Skills
- Preferably in possession of a recognized National Diploma in Purchasing, Logistics, a minimum of 3 years) from a recognized tertiary institution
- Hands-on experience in a Purchasing environment, preferably in the manufacturing or mining sector and must have had experience with ERP Software such as - SAP, SAGE or any other recognized ERP software.
- Certification/hands-on experience of Microsoft Software and Internet, particularly Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of purchasing functions such as RFx procedures, bid adjudication, award and approval of contracts or sourcing initiatives etc.
- Knowledge of the basic legal aspects of purchasing
- Capable of developing & maintaining sound business relationships with suppliers and developing good working relationship with internal stakeholders
- Basic understanding of costing structures and price determination
- Good negotiation skills

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):
- Source and place orders within strict deadlines
- Capture contract upload information
- Perform administrative functions e.g. general filing, drafting of scope of work, conduct correspondence with suppliers etc.
- Promote the company’s good name by adhering to the high ethical standards of the purchasing fraternity
- Processing of purchase orders which includes the following activities:
- Check purchase requisitions for completeness
- Identify and/or propose possible suppliers.
- Issue RFx enquiries
- Request, analyze and adjudicate quotes(s).
- Negotiate with suppliers on issues such as cost and delivery
- Assist internal customers by following up on non-compliant suppliers and enforcing adherence to agreed contractual arrangements
- Monitor and report on supplier performance in respect of Afrimat’s performance expectations
- Maintain Departmental records and statistics concerning stock valuation, supply delivery performance, supply price performance etc.
- Compile Company contracts as instructed by Manager
- Assist the Manager with any purchasing projects or other ad hoc purchasing functions as and when required.
- Assist accounts payable to match invoices and capture supplier payments
- Assist with stock counts at specified sites
- Assist in the Requisition to Pay process
- Assist in the Inventory and Planning functions
