Data Analyst Specialist
Afrimat is currently seeking the services of a Data Analyst Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and analyzing data to generate insights that support informed decision-making across the organisation. This role plays a critical part in transforming raw data into meaningful information by identifying trends, patterns, and actionable insights that drive business performance and strategic initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Information Technology, Actuarial Science, Data Science, or Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years’ professional experience in analytical or data-driven roles.
- Proven experience performing analytical work within a strong analytical environment or department.
- Demonstrated business critical-thinking and creative problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in building data models using tools such as Qlik and Power BI.
- Valid Drivers Licence.
- The candidate must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited not):
- Providing actionable recommendations based on analysis.
- Assisting business teams in making data-driven decisions.
- Working with stakeholders to understand business needs and tailor analyses to address specific challenges.
- Partnering with IT, database administrators, and data engineers for data access and infrastructure needs.
- Using statistical and analytical methods to uncover trends, patterns, and relationships within the data.
- Performing exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand the data better.
- Creating dashboards, charts, and reports to present findings in a clear and visually appealing way.
- Using tools like Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Qlick.
- Design and implement data models to support analytics and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain data dictionaries and metadata for structured understanding of datasets.
- Optimize data structures for performance and scalability across systems.
- Translate business requirements into analytical solutions and technical specifications.
- Perform gap analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Prepare and present business cases supported by data-driven evidence for decision-making.
