Mine Development Superintendent
Minimum Qualification / Experience / Skills:
- Grade 12 (Matric) qualification
- Relevant trade or engineering qualification
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- A minimum of five years’ management experience within a mining environment.
- Knowledge and previous experience of construction and infrastructure development would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of security within a mining environment
- Strong knowledge of mining / construction operations, techniques, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently within set targets.
- People management and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing conditions, and manage a team effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to the Mine Health and Safety Act and company safety protocols, conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments, and lead safety meetings to foster a "Zero Harm" culture.
- Supervision and Coordination: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of trade personnel, contractors, and other workers involved in building and infrastructure projects) as well as the supervision of the security contractors.
- Project Management: Plan, schedule, and monitor construction and maintenance tasks to meet project milestones, within allocated timeframes and budget.
- Maintenance and Repair: Oversee preventative maintenance programs, routine servicing, and emergency repairs of facilities and associated equipment (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems) for Afrimat Iron Ore.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets project specifications, quality standards, and technical requirements.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all activities, including safety incidents, production data, maintenance work orders, and compliance reports for senior management.
- Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve operational issues, equipment malfunctions, and conflicts that arise on the job site to minimize delay
