Regional Officer - Social Development
Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma (Social Sciences/Community Development/Development Studies) or other relevant qualifications.
- Preference will be shown to candidates with plus 5 years’ experience in similar role.
- Local exposure and regional knowledge will be an advantage
- English speaking and writing.
- Preference for EE candidate with relevant experience.
- The candidate must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited not):
- Manage SLP and SED requirements for Afrimat’s Mining activities in the Western and Eastern Cape areas of South Africa.
- Responsible for driving stakeholder engagement in their region, i.e. DMPR, Government departments, Local and Provincial Municipality, Tribal Authorities, community structures etc
- Knowledge and understanding of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, the Social and Labour Plan and the Mining Charter.
- Draft SLPs and ensure compliance with all relevant national legislation.
- Draft s102 applications (Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act) to amend approved SLPs.
- Monitor the implementation of human resources development programmes, employment equity, procurement, management of downscaling, and housing and living conditions.
- Develop, review and implement LED and CSI projects.
- Compile project plans, including project requirements and needs, implement and manage the approved project plan.
- Draft and facilitate service level agreements/memorandum of agreements.
- Ensure project outcomes are delivered on time and to budget.
- Monitor and report on the implementation of SLP commitments and expenditures (monthly and annually).
- Compile Mining Charter reports and monitor and ensure compliance with Mining Charter.
- Prepare for compliance audits/inspections by Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources.
- Drive SED initiatives for the region, and establish and chair future forum meetings.
- Continuously engage with relevant communities and participate in relevant community and development forums to ensure community needs are addressed through LED projects identified for the SLP.
