Senior People Officer
Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies:
- South African Citizen.
- To be based in Vredendal, Western Cape
- Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably an Honours degree in HR/ People Management or Industrial Psychology.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in PM-related function in the mining industry.
- Experience with Social and Labour Plans (SLP) advantageous.
- Experience & Knowledge of People Management Information systems (Sage 300 & BEE123) advantageous.
- Good knowledge of all SA Labour Legislation/ Employee Relations & Skills Development essential.
- Perform generalist functions including People Management, administration and employee relations.
- Ability to address employee relations professionally, consistently, fairly, and with empathy.
- Assertive and good business insight to add value in management meetings/ other business areas.
- In-depth knowledge of people management best practices.
- Ability to work under pressure and independently, without close supervision.
- Ability to plan, organize and control priorities with good administrative skills.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited not):
- Providing an effective and efficient overall people management service to Vredendal and Robertson sites.
- Formulate, improve, communicate, and monitor value-adding People Management guidelines.
- Manage the recruitment and selection process in line with the 2 business’s needs.
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to management and employees on Employee Relations matters.
- Actively promote and oversee Learning and Development initiatives, including succession planning and talent management.
- Ensure compliance with all legislative reporting requirements related to Employment Equity and Skills Development.
- Roll out employee engagement/ performance management and change management processes linked to the business strategy.
- Drive Culture and Experience for the Business Unit.
- Implementation of Individual Development Plans, Workplace Skills Plan, and Annual Training Report submissions.
- Coordinate 1:1 process.
- Coordinate Bursary and Study Assistance Schemes.
- Be informed of developments in the PM field and develop appropriate steps.
- Oversee and coordinate SLP and Mining Charter reporting and Projects where appropriate.
- Assume full responsibility for the People administration function including input to payroll.
- Perform role of Employment Equity manager for the Business Unit.
- Line management responsibilities – 2 direct reports
